    Yeast Infection

    Itchy Vagina

Are you afraid of telling your mom about your itchy and burning vagina? For the fear that she might suspect you are involved in sexual activities?
We got it all figured out for you!
If your vagina discharges a white or pale and thick curd like substance accompanied by a fish like odor, then the chances are that you are suffering from yeast infection.   Other symptoms include itching, soreness, rashes, burning during urination, and pain during sex.

    Yeast Infection

And hey you are not alone in your struggle with an itchy vagina!
According to a study, 3 out of 4 women get yeast infections at some point in their lifetime.
Vaginal yeast infection also known as candidiasis is a condition caused by the fungus Candida albicans.
It is NOT a sexuallytransmitted disease (STD) and can be found in virgins as well as women who are not sexually active. So don’t be afraid. You can tell your mom all right!
However, on a note of warning, if a person has yeast infection, it can be transmitted to their partner during sexual activity.

    Another Brain Buzz!!!

Like good bacteria, lactobacillus, Candida (the yeast which causes yeast infection) is also a naturally occurring microorganism found in your vaginal area. Lactobacillus keeps the growth of the yeast in check. However, due to certain conditions, if bacteria fail to function properly due to some imbalance in your system, it can lead to yeast infection.
Before you move on to our handy home remedies, you first need to be sure that your condition is yeast infection. However, if you have doubts, it is pertinent to set an appointment with your gynecologist and get yourself examined by an expert.

    Treatment for Yeast Infection

    Eat more yogurts!
The easiest way to cure a yeast infection (depending on the severity of the condition of course) is increasing the daily in-take of yogurt or other fermented products. Yogurt contains the same kind of healthy bacteria, lactobacillus, which are found in vagina. Eating yogurt or inserting it into vaginal area boosts the growth of friendly bacteria which are responsible for the cleansing of your vagina.
But make sure that the yogurts you eat should not contain sugar as it can further aggravate the condition.

If you don’t like the taste of yogurt, you can supplement it by taking pills that contain probiotics which in turn would accelerate the growth of lactobacillus in your vagina.
This is a handy remedy if your infection is not severe. In case of severe condition, you will need a proper treatment which may include oral or topical antifungal medicines.
