How to take care of your lady parts

How to take care of your Ladyparts

We have come to believe that “down-there” is the dirtiest and filthiest part of our bodies (funny as it is, thanks to our mothers who never called it by its name). And we need to make an extra effort to keep it clean, healthy and happy.
However the truth is far from this!
Your vagina has a natural cleaning system. And with a little care and change in lifestyle, you can maintain the system and keep your vagina clean, glorious and alive.
    The question is how?
Follow these simple steps given below and you vagina will say ‘thank you’.
    1.       Stop with douching. Using douches, soaps, deodorants, sprays, or any other feminine product down there can disturb its natural pH. The natural pH level boosts the good bacteria such as lactobacilli in your ladyparts which keep it clean.
    2.       Wash with warm water. Use warm water to wash your vagina. Remember that everything “down there” is not vagina and you can use soap to cleanse them. However, if soap gets inside the tube-like muscular canal of vagina, then make sure to wash it off properly as it can lead to dryness and itching.
    3.       Keep your ladyparts dry.  Keeping your ladyparts dry is really important in order to avoid yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis and UTIs. Dry your body and make sure no moisture is left on it before you put on your clothes after shower. Avoid wearing panties made of synthetic or non-breathable fabric. It is recommended to wear cotton panties as they soak moisture that can lead to itching and infections.
    4.       Let your vagina breathe. Avoid wearing underwear whenever feasible. Going commando once in a while allows your vagina to breathe and prevent infections.
    5.       Use condoms. Condoms not only help prevent the transfer of STD’s but they also help maintain the natural pH of vagina. The basic pH of semen can upset the acidic pH of vagina leaving it susceptible to bacterial growth. Using condom can help avoid the situation. Still if semen gets inside your vagina, wash it right away in order to avoid contamination and infections.

    6.       Eat yogurt, garlic and fruits. Yogurt and other fermented foods can accelerate the growth of good bacteria in your vagina. In case of yeast infections, the best home remedy is increasing the intake of yogurt as it contains the same good bacteria which keep your vagina clean and healthy.
    7.       Get yourself regularly checked up. If you smell anything fishy down there and you are not sure what caused it, do not hesitate to set an appointment with your gynecologist. God forbid, it is not always an STD. It might be the common yeast infection also known as candidiasis. According to a study, 3 out of 4 women encounter yeast infections in their vaginas at some point in their life. It is very important to get a timely diagnosis and treatment.  If goes untreated, the infection can become severe and turn into chronic infection.
